Carmine is a Kapunda based artist and gardener. She moved from Byron Bay with B.J. Moore in 1990 when they transformed a former Lutheran church into an art studio, home and garden nursery, later adding a framing business to their many pursuits.
… At first I was reluctant about succulents and cactus. They evoked memories of the tortured looking, straggly and shrivelled specimens I had witnessed in the past. I was soon to witness the potential of these fascinating and forgiving plants and haven’t been able to stop painting them. Feeling the need to introduce an element of animation, my most recent works feature small creatures such as frogs, lizards and beetles.
Carmine studied with private tutors in Geelong, Perth and Byron Bay. Her work is represented in private collections in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. More recently, she was a finalist in the prestigious 2006 Waterhouse Natural History Prize.
