artist - karina semmler

These delicate and innovative accessories are hand made by young Barossa Valley fashion designer Karina Semmler, with carefully sourced high quality natural fabrics such as wool, silk, linen, cotton and bamboo. Karina calls her fashion label Field of Pleats which includes brooches, belts, obis, neck pieces and decorative cushions.

The style of this ‘Painted Garden’ collection revolves around Karina’s affection and appreciation for nature, antique qualities and Japanese design. She has used harmonious colour schemes to revive the old fashioned technique of appliquéd yo-yos and her own adaptation of origami to create sculptured pieces of wearable art, now available through Salon Rouge off the rack or by commission.

Karina’s distinctive one off pieces are hand stitched from Japanese vintage fabrics originally sewn into kimonos, therefore these silks may have slight ‘character marks’.

Orders can be made to commission to colours and fabric combinations of your choice.

Obis are worn as belts over jeans or skirts.

Skirts can be worn as a wrap over skirts or pants.
